Volunteer Attorneys for Rural Nevadans (VARN)

The Volunteer Attorneys for Rural Nevadans (VARN) is a nonprofit organization dedicated to ensuring access to civil justice for low‑income individuals, families, and survivors of domestic violence in rural and northern Nevada. VARN recruits volunteer attorneys and operates programs that provide free civil legal assistance in areas such as family law, child custody, guardianship, name changes, and other uncontested civil matters. The organization also offers specialized support through its Domestic Violence Victim’s Assistance Project and periodic “Lawyer in the Lobby” consultations, giving community members the opportunity to speak briefly with an attorney at no cost. For educational leaders, educators, parents, students, and community members, this resource highlights a critical legal support system that helps remove barriers to stability and well‑being for vulnerable families.
