Hazel Health: Lyon County’s Telehealth Program

Through Lyon County School District’s partnership with Hazel Health, all enrolled students have access to licensed therapists at no cost to families. Educational leaders and staff can refer students experiencing homelessness or in foster care through school counselors for virtual mental health support. Students receive a 75-minute intake assessment to identify unique needs and goals, followed by weekly 45-60 minute evidence-based therapy sessions with matched licensed therapists specializing in child and teen development. Parents provide one-time consent and can access services at school or home via any device. Therapists help students address stress, depression, anxiety, bullying, grief, trauma, and family relationships. Students benefit from culturally responsive care, with community members seeing improved attendance and behavior after an average of six sessions, with care coordination connecting families to local resources when longer-term services are needed.
