FISH has served rural Northern Nevada since 1979, providing emergency and temporary assistance to the hungry, homeless, and underemployed in Carson, Douglas, Lyon, and Storey Counties. Educational leaders can connect students experiencing homelessness or in foster care with food banks in Carson City and Gardnerville, the Family Dining Room offering hot nutritious meals, emergency shelters, and transitional housing programs. The organization provides healthcare through the Ross Medical Center, including medical, vision, and dental services. Students pursuing education benefit from affordable student housing with on-site tutoring and mentoring at the Learning Center. Parents access life skills instruction in budgeting, job readiness, and parenting. Community members support the mission through three thrift stores offering affordable clothing and household items while funding programs serving over 6,600 clients annually.
